| WHAT IS WEB 2.0? |
Web 2.0 was a phrase originally used to described a better internet experience where web pages are smarter (check for missing fields, remember customizations, CAPTCHA checks, etc) and also making web pages more useful by creating web based applications (online software to create, manage, edit, etc) made in platforms and framework like ASP, PHP, AJAX, XML, JavaScript, SOAP, RUBY, etc. "The
Web 2.0 term was originally coined by O'Reilly Media in 2004 which refers to a supposed second generation of Internet-based services - such as social networking sites, wikis, communication tools, and folksonomies - that emphasize online collaboration and sharing among users." |
| Over the last few years, many people have tried to set rules and layout specifications for Web 2.0 web sites. It doesn't really matter how the site looks, it's more if the site is a helpful/useful application! All this talk about how Web 2.0 must have certain styles (gradients, rounded corners, etc) is a load of "crap" (you can have a very simple tool on a very simple page, this example is an ASP.net programming solution to strip all the HREF calls/URLs from a web page), the more graphic intense it is, the more we call it "Bloatware"! |
| Major software corporations are most afraid (they even try to confuse us to as what Web 2.0 really is) of the rapid advance of the Web 2.0 phenomena as their business of shareware selling is in jeopardy as many people will be able to accomplish similar tasks online without having to install more files to their computer (ex: free online Image Generator replaces software tool Xara WebStyle Pro that costs $89.95, even reduces dependency on Adobe's Photoshop). Also, Web 2.0 applications are portable (run on any operating system capable of browsing internet sites, OS like Windows, UNIX, Linux, Macintosh, etc) and have no rules about what computer you can use it on. No risk to use online apps, but installing software downloads can possible corrupt files or perform unwanted results. |
| What is Web 2.0 with AJAX programming language?
AJAX is short for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, is a web development technique for creating interactive web applications. The intent is to make web pages feel more responsive by exchanging small amounts of data with the server behind the scenes, so that the entire web page does not have to be reloaded each time the user makes a change. |
| What is Web 2.0 with
CSS? It's short for Cascading Style Sheets, is a style sheet language used to describe the presentation of a document written in a markup language. Its most common application is to style web pages written in
HTML and
XHTML, but the language can be applied to any kind of
XML document, including
SVG and
XUL. |
